Thirty-five years ago, neither of us had any idea what we were doing.
It started with a business card left on a windshield in 1989. That small, almost forgettable moment led us to a meeting, and that meeting changed the entire direction of our lives. We jumped in headfirst with zero experience, zero training, and honestly, zero clue what we had just signed up for. But something about the possibility of it lit a fire in both of us, and we decided we were all in.
There was no system handed to us. No mentor walking beside us showing us what to do next. What we had was each other, a willingness to figure it out the hard way, and more determination than either of us knew we were capable of.

It started with a business card left on a windshield in 1989. That small, almost forgettable moment led us to a meeting, and that meeting changed the entire direction of our lives. We jumped in headfirst with zero experience, zero training, and honestly, zero clue what we had just signed up for. But something about the possibility of it lit a fire in both of us, and we decided we were all in.
There was no system handed to us. No mentor walking beside us showing us what to do next. What we had was each other, a willingness to figure it out the hard way, and more determination than either of us knew we were capable of.
And figure it out the hard way is exactly what we did.
For years, this business was built belly to belly. Living room meetings. Speakerphone calls with people we had never met in person. Showing up to every event within driving distance because we knew that being in the room mattered more than anything else we could be doing.
We made mistakes that would have made most people quit. We did not always know what we were doing, but we kept doing it anyway.
And then, not once, but twice, we lost a six-figure income almost overnight.
Not because we did anything wrong. Because someone else, somewhere else, changed the rules on us without warning.
Both times we had to start over from nearly nothing. Both times it would have been easy to walk away and call it quits.
We didn't.
We rebuilt. And somewhere in that rebuilding, things finally started to click.
We built teams of 5000 people or more. We hit $50,000 months at our peak. We became recognized leaders within the John Maxwell organization, learning directly from one of the most respected leadership voices in the world, and we have spent years since then weaving those principles into the way we lead, train, and build teams today.
What we are actually most proud of is what all of that gave us.
Time. Time for our family. Time to watch our grandkids grow up instead of missing it from behind a desk. Time to actually live our lives instead of just surviving until the next paycheck.
That is exactly why we care so much about helping other people get here too.
